About

Matt is a filmmaker from Toronto who lives and works in LA (with three cats, which is totally normal). He makes weird and emotional comedies that hopefully make you laugh, cry, and cringe at the same time.

His short film KILLER screened at the Sundance Film Festival and won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival, IFFBoston, Sarasota Film Festival, and Lower East Side Film Festival. It received a Vimeo Staff Pick and was featured on Short of the Week and NoBudge. He’s currently developing a feature based on it, and recently participated in the TIFF Filmmaker Lab.

His short film DONKEY won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival and Lower East Side Film Festival. It received a Vimeo Staff Pick, was featured on Short of the Week, and written about in Vulture.

His short film FATHER FIGURINE was featured on Short of the Week, NoBudge, Director’s Notes and Film Shortage. His shorts HASTA LA VISTA and TIGHT SPOT are also Vimeo Staff Picks.

As a director, he has worked on shows for MTV, Snapchat, and Fullscreen (RIP). He has also directed commercials and branded content for Amazon, Postmates, REI, Toyota, Cox Cable, Intel, Sephora, and many others.

He feels conflicted about self-promotion, but hopes you enjoy his work.
